Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 2, is a United States Marine Corps Electronic Warfare Squadron flying the Grumman EA-6 Prowler. Its Mission is to support the Marine Air-Ground Task Force commander by conducting airborne electronic warfare, day or night, under all weather conditions during expeditionary, joint, or combined operations. The Squadron is based at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, and falls under the Marine Aircraft Group 14 and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. Beginning in 1952 as VMC-2, a photoreconnaissance and electronic warfare squadron flying the AD-5 and EF-10, RF-8, and RF-4B, the Squadron would adopt the EA-6A Intruder in 1971. The Squadron would adopt the Playboy nickname in 1955 with the first publishing of the magazine, and carry the name until 1993. The Squadron would serve through the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam War, Operation El Dorado Canyon, Persian Gulf War, Allied Force, and the War on Terror until its disestablishment in 2019.
